Brett Dennen has partnered with our friends at Livestream to broadcast an exclusive New Year’s Eve performance at the Fox Theater in Oakland presented by Life is good and Another Planet Entertainment. Starting December 31th at 8:30PM PST, fans can tune in to Brett’s Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/brettdennen), Website (http://www.brettdennen.net), or Livestream.com (http://www.livestream.com/brettdennenalolive) to view the broadcast or return to this post where it will be streaming live as well. Joining Brett are Brushfire Recording artist and neighbors ALO, plus several local musicians at a party destined to be the Bay-Area kick-off to 2010.
To kickoff this special New Years Eve performance, Brett will also interact with his fans on Livestream, with a special Q+A session from his rehearsals on December 30th at 3PM PST. The performance at the newly renovated theater marks Brett’s first local headline since selling out two nights at the legendary Fillmore. He also recently engaged thousands at the Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival in Golden Gate Park and supported Jason Mraz for a sold out show at Berkeley’s Greek Theatre.

It’s been an amazing year for TheyWillRockYou.com and our staff. We’ve covered some amazing bands and have photographed some epic shows – From rock legends in huge arenas to some of our favorite artists in dirty little clubs it’s been a fun journey and quite a memorable one.
It’s always hard to wrap up an entire year’s work in one gallery but we’ve pulled together some of our favorite shots from this year. Please check them out and let us know what you think! (And if you like one of the shots you can always check out our past galleries for the full set as well).
Big thanks to all of our staff photographers (Mary Ouellette, Tasha Schalk, Sergio Bastidas, Stacie Caddick-Dowty, Dave Barnum & Lexi Shapiro) as well as our great friends who took on assignments along the way (Antonio Marino, Jr., Victoria Morse, Amanda Courtemanche, Alyssa Scheinson, Vicky Zeamer) . Thanks for sharing our passion and love for music and here’s hoping that 2010 rocks just as hard!

The sad news of Avenged Sevenfold Drummer Jimmy ”The Rev” Sullivan passing away has been confirmed. Details are sparse at the moment. He was found in his home and the cause of death has been ruled natural causes. The band posted this statement on their website:
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we tell you of the passing today of Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan. Jimmy was not only one of the world’s best drummers, but more importantly he was our best friend and brother. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jimmy’s family and we hope that you will respect their privacy during this difficult time.
Jimmy you are forever in our hearts.
We love you.M Shadows, Synyster Gates, Zacky Vengeance and Johnny Christ

Genevieve Schatz of Company of Thieves

A radio DJ once referred to Genevieve Schatz’ voice as “like buttah.” Company of Thieves’ debut album doesn’t do Genevieve’s voice justice, nor does it adequately capture the band’s stage presence and energy. But the sense you get from both is that this band is both gutsy and genuine.
Ordinary Riches – much like its literary influence, Oscar Wilde – often provides commentary on society, something we are likely to hear more of from the band’s sophomore effort due out sometime in 2010. But while the Chicago trio may be stealing pieces of inspiration from other artists – both literary and musical – they have clearly created something delightfully all their own.
TWRY caught up with Genevieve huddled close to a space heater before a recent show in Troy, NY, the day of the area’s first major snow storm.

We are extremely excited to officially announce the dates for the NEEDTOBREATHE “Won’t Turn Back Tour” 2010! The tour will kick off at the beginning of March and will run through mid-May! We were so blown away by the turnouts for the Outsiders Live Tour this fall, we started booking this tour before we even got home from the last one. In keeping with our past trends, this will be bigger and better than ever!
We are releasing a limited number of presale tickets for the first two legs of the tour that will go on sale December 18th – presales for the last leg will begin February 5th. Many of the shows on the last tour sold out, so be sure to get your tickets early and guarantee that you get into the show, as well as save a little money on service fees!
We’re playing more cities, bigger venues, and yet again we’ll be bringing out some amazing artists to join us. We’re excited to be sharing the stage with some old tour-mates as well as some new friends, including Will Hoge, Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers, Graham Colton, Matt Hires and Seabird.
On top of all this, we’ll soon be launching our new fan club, The Insiders, giving you an opportunity to get closer to NEEDTOBREATHE than ever before! When you join you’ll get early access to advance ticket sales, a brand new fan club website, exclusive merch, fan club only meet and greet opportunities, and much more!
