TWRY’s Best of 2010 Concert Photos
Wow. 2010 was truly a banner year for us. At the beginning of the year we set out to expand our boundaries with our coverage and concert galleries and looking back over the past 12 months, I’d say it was a success! We covered everything – rock, metal, emo, indie, hipster, country, hair bands, reunion tours, soul, funk, oldies, local bands, living legends, jam bands, guitar gods, royalty of rock and everything in between – and had a blast all the while! We covered many multi-band events including Warped Tour, Mayhem Fest, Lilith Fair, snoe.down, Beale Street Music Festival, New England Country Music Festival, Life is Good Festival and those are just what pop to mind as I type this.
I want to start out by thanking all of the photographers who contributed, be it one show or several – your contributions and passion for music and photography are what this site is built on and we wouldn’t exist without you! So very special thanks to: Dave Barnum, Sergio Bastidas, Jeff Gerew, Tasha Schalk, Mandi Loranger, Diana Guay, Josh Lowe, Jamie Ivins, Laura DiBetta, Alyssa Scheinson, Joe Harrington, John Bellavance & Jennifer Russo! (I really hope I didn’t miss anyone!)
(While I’m at it, a huge thanks to our stellar staff of writers: Sally Feller, Dorise Gruber, Roger Scales, Heather Kobrin, Jessica Messina, Justin Bartz, Debie Patton, Mandi Loranger, Ryan Labbe, Antonio Marino Jr., Stacie Caddick-Dowty and everyone else that contributed pieces throughout the year. You bring words to our photos and you are the life blood of this operation so thank you for everything you do!)
Concert photography isn’t a perfect science, in fact, it’s not much of a science at all, it’s more about your gut instinct. While skill and camera expertise will take you so far it’s a special mix of music, movement and magic to capture the right moment at that precise time. When this magic happens, we’re able to really reach out to our readers and share with them the true experience of a live show, and that’s what makes it all worth it!
I’ve gone through and selected the best of the best from all the shows we covered this year. Please take a moment to check them out and “like” your favorites! I’d love to compile the top 25 shots of the year based on your feedback.
Here’s to 2011!
