ThreeMinutes With………..
Whitney Rosati

You may know her by her stage name, White Rose, especially if you’ve been in Las Vegas or western New York in the last several months. If you don’t know her yet, you will. Whitney is a 15 year old guitar phenom and proves that anything boys can do, girls can do too – if not better!

With only about three years of playing under her belt, she can take on most who’ve been playing five times longer than she has and blow them out of the water! Whitney gave me three minutes early in the Summer when she was here in Las Vegas sitting in with our mutual friends, the Sin City Sinners. Check it out!

So, your question is, what are three albums you think everyone should own and why?
One of them is definitely Appetite for Destruction, because the songs are so original. You never hear it anywhere else. Also, the Sin City Sinners’ album. I’m obsessed with it!

Which Sinners’ album?
The Exile on Fremont Street one. I’m trying to think of the third one…. I love the Joan Jett album. I’m not really sure which one it is, I think it’s her Greatest Hits album. It’s my favorite. I listen to it all the time. I love all the 80’s rock bands. So, they would be Guns n’ Roses, Sinners, and Joan Jett. And, AC/DC of course…. I love the song “Back in Black”!

Want to draw another question?
 SURE!!

If you became President of the United States for a day, what would your first order of business be?
I would probably take away Fridays for school days. I would have a three-day weekend. I think that would be amazing!

 And environmentally correct!
YEAH! You know, running buses and stuff. Save gas. Electricity.

That works for me! Now you can promote anything you want….
Facebook, you can find me there. I have a White Rose page. You can find anything I’m doing there, I will post YouTube videos there, recent ones. Updates, stuff like gigs mostly. I have some opportunities coming up, so stay tuned to the page for details!

Check out her YouTube channel as well

Super BIG Thank You to “Momma Rose”!!

Three Minutes With…Carmine and Vinny Appice

Three Minutes With………
Carmine and Vinny Appice

These brothers really don’t need an introduction, but for those who’ve been unconscious for the last twenty or thirty years, here we go…. Carmine Appice is recognized as the drummer for Vanilla Fudge,  also having worked with other noteable acts,  and as the guy who set the standard for heavy hitting showmen drummers. Vinny Appice played in a little known band called Black Sabbath and with the late Ronnie James Dio in Dio.  They were kind enough to give me three and a half minutes after a Drum Wars show at Vamp’d in Las Vegas. (Which I highly recommend if it comes through your town!!)

Draw your question, but don’t peek.
Vinny: I got ’em ALL! Okay. That one.

Vinny, your question is – what is the wackiest question you’ve ever been asked?
Vinny: This question right now!
Carmine: This one!

Surprisingly, everybody says that!
Vinny:
Do you get hemorrhoids from playing drums? Is that true?
<laughs> Wow.
Vinny: That’s wacky!
That IS wacky. I’m afraid to know the answer.
Vinny: It is false. You don’t get hemorrhoids from playing drums…. Guitar, right?
Carmine: That’s right! You get them from playing guitar.
Good to know!

Carmine: Okay! Let’s go! I gotta pick one….
<hands over every card in the Sack>
Carmine: The top one.
Carmine, your question is –  What are three albums you think everyone should own and why?
Vinny: Dio…. Sabbath….
Carmine: Blue Murder, King Kobra new album, and the new Travers and Appice album. Why? ‘Cause I’m on ’em!

Drum Wars in Vegas - Photo by: Leah Burlington

Fair enough!  Now you guys can plug whatever it is you want to talk about – product, project, place – it doesn’t even have to necessarily be yours!
Carmine: Okay. We’re plugging Drum Wars, the new crazy music of me and Vinny;  Carmine and Vinny Appice. And we’re gonna be going around the world doing Drum Wars. Come check it out, because it does kick ass! Right ,Vinny?
Vinny: What?
<laughter>
Vinny: Right. Drum Wars. It’s gonna kick ass everywhere. We’re going to Japan next month too.

Gonna hit the East Coast?
Carmine: Yes. Going to hit the East Coast at the end of July. We have three shows – Providence, New York, and Long Island. I think we’re gonna be joined in New York by Ronnie Spector, of “Be My Baby” fame, with this kind of crazy drumming. She’ll probably have a heart attack!
Vinny: She’ll probably have a heart attack – she doesn’t know what she’s getting into!
WOW. That’s awesome!

Three Minutes With…Brent Fitz

Three Minutes With………
Brent Fitz

You’ve seen him as the drummer for Union, Vince Neil’s solo band, Theory of a Deadman, Alice Cooper, and currently Slash’s touring band. He’s also played keyboards for Vince and Theory, if my information is correct… He has almost as many albums to his credit as Vegas has slot machines. (His website shows more than 20, and Google shows more than that!) If you’ve been around Vegas for the past couple of years, you may have caught him sitting in with the Sin City Sinners here and there. It was after one of those such events that Brent broke a record with the Sack o’ Questions!

Draw your question, but don’t peek.
I have to answer these really fast? I can’t think about it?

No, the whole premise is that you don’t know what you’re going to get asked, so you can’t give me a canned answer….
Allright…. Uncanny… Here we go.

Your question is – what is the best and/or worst thing about playing in Vegas?Well, I live here, so the best thing would be that I get to sleep in my bed at night. The problem is that I never do play here so that’s the bad thing! I don’t play here, I’m always traveling far away from home, so I miss my wonderful girlfriend and I miss my dogs, so that’s probably the worst. The worst thing about Vegas, more elaborately, is that sometimes you’ve got to conform to rules in casinos. It’s a little more strict. I’m not used to it. That’s the only thing. I’m kind of a virgin at the casino thing, so it’s just a little different.

You still have time, want to do another question? There’s three records held. Shortest is one minute, eleven seconds. Longest is seven minutes. Most questions is three in three minutes
 I can do another question.

What is the most memorable point in your career – good, bad, or both?
Well, I think probably more recently, there’s been a lot of great ones, but it was pretty nice to get a phone call from Slash. He didn’t know me, he’d heard a lot about me from some other people so, it was just nice to get a phone call out of the blue one day asking if we could get together and jam. I think it’s been the most important phone call in a long time.   Can I do another question?

Allright…. You’re gonna shatter Louie Merlino’s record! Is there one song you wish you had written? What is it and why?
“Comfortably Numb”, I think it’s a perfect song. It’s got some emotion and it’s kinda eerie. I’m not a huge Pink Floyd fan, but every time I hear it, I’m like, “Man…” It’s got some emotional tugging to it. It’s not sappy. It’s not a disposable song. You can keep listening to it and get something new out of it every time you listen to it. So, it’s the first song that comes to mind. “Comfortably Numb”, Pink Floyd.

Wanna break the record?
Oh God. Of course I do!

If you didn’t do this, what would you do?
The answer is…. I would only be doing this. I don’t know what Plan B is! I only live Plan A lifestyle. That’s the end of the answer.  Four questions….. Allllll riiiiiiiight!

And now you can promote whatever it is you want to talk about. Product. Place. Project. It doesn’t even have to be yours!
Promote? I’m not even a promoter! No! I’m kind of like a team member guy. So, I’m promoting that I just had an awesome weekend playing with the Sin City Sinners, and I’m promoting going back out with Slash. That’s all I need to promote.

For all the latest on Brent and his latest projects visit his official website. (If he doesn’t want to promote it, we will!!!)

Three Minutes With…Ron Keel

Three Minutes With…..
Ron Keel

With a career spanning over a quarter-century and more than 50 albums to his credit, Ron Keel is possibly best known for his eponymous band Keel. Now living in Vegas, he hosts a weekly open mic, acoustic jam session known as Las Vegas Stripped, which is streamed live all over the world via the internet. I managed to catch up to him after one of those such sessions, and he was cool enough to take on the Sack O’ Questions and answer one that’s NEVER been asked before…..

The question you drew is – where do you see the future of music heading?
Music is a reflection of society, and the people who live in that society. It’s a reflection of our emotions. Sadness, happiness, loneliness… The future of music is the future of our people. I would like to think that we could still keep a postive message in the music. Sing songs about life, love… Keep a positive attitude. Music is my best friend. It’s always been certainly a reflection of my life and my activities and what I feel. The songs that I write, and the songs that I play, I think the future of music will reflect the future of mankind. Hopefully it will be postive.

Now you can promote whatever you want to talk about!
I’m Ron Keel. Ronkeel.com I’m the lead singer in a band called Keel. I’m also a Las Vegas singer, songwriter, performing Las Vegas Stripped, which is the acoustic jam that I host, which we’re at tonight. I just hope that the fans around the world that are listening and watching will enjoy it too, and stay in touch with me at Ronkeel.com, and you can hit my Facebook. Keep it real, and stay safe, and I love my fans, the people who have carried me this far. I look forward to whatever the future holds!

Check out Las Vegas Stripped sessions live, with special guests weekly, on Monday nights starting at 8pm Pacific Time: www.ustream.tv/channel/las-vegas-stripped-live

Three Minutes With…Louie Merlino

Three Minutes With…..
Louie Merlino

With a musical resume that reads like an encyclopedia of rock n’ roll, Beggars & Thieves vocalist, “The Voice of Vegas”, Louie Merlino recently set a brand-new record when taking on the Sack O’ Questions. He went not one, not two, but three rounds – something that has never been done before!

Your question is – what drives you to do what you do?
 Singing.

Okay…. That’s your prime motivation? Care to elaborate?
It’s motivated me my whole life! It’s brought me more pain and more joy than anything else. If I wasn’t a singer, I’d be in deep trouble. It’s the only thing that’s kept me out of trouble! It drives my passion.

Wow. Well, since we’re under time, you want to draw another question?
 Sure!

Here goes Round Two. What is the wackiest question you’ve ever been asked?
What drives me to do what I do…

<laughter>

That’s pretty funny!
Wow… That’s a hard one to answer….. Nothing sticks out in my mind… <pause> What do your songs mean? They mean a lot of things!

They mean something different to everybody!
That’s exactly right. Allright! Let’s try one more!

Okay! You’re setting a new record! Your third question is – what are three albums you think everyone should own and why?
Oh God… Wow. First Beggars & Thieves record…. Because it’s mine! <laughs> Second one, Love It To Death by Alice Cooper. Third one, Smokin’ by Humble Pie.

Why on the last two?
‘Cause they’re great records…. Great singers. I mean Alice Cooper was  the first concert I ever went to, such charisma onstage. Him and Sinatra are the only two that could walk out onstage, not say a word, and have the whole audience captivated.

Now you can plug whatever you want!
The ne
w Beggars & Thieves record We are the Broken Hearted is coming out hopefully this May…

Tour to follow?
God willing!

Stay tuned to They Will Rock You – if we get word of any Beggars & Thieves shows, we’ll let you know!  Otherwise, you can catch Louie doing some gigs with Jimmy Crespo around Vegas, and word has it he’ll back to fill in with the Sin City Sinners for some shows in July.

Three Minutes With…The Disparrows

Three Minutes With………..
The Disparrows

Hailing from LA, but sounding like they could just as easily have Southern roots, all four members of rock band The Disparrows (Daniel “Dirrty” Weber- Guitar/Vox, Michael Brasic- Drums/ Vox, Stephen Tecci- Bass/ Vox, Grant “DR” Loosvelt – Piano / Vox)  took on the Sack O’ Questions when they did a mini, three night tour of Las Vegas recently. Listen to one song they play, and you’ll quickly learn that this ain’t yo’ Daddy’s blues band! You’ve also probably never met a band that actually encourages fans to bootleg their shows! I kid you not, they actually don’t mind it. (They’d probably also dig it if you shared the footage with them. Just sayin’….)

Dirrty – if you could put together your dream project – band, tour, album, who would be involved?
Dirrty: Me… Elvis…  Garcia… Melvin Steels…. Mike Brasic… and, maybe Evan (Seinfeld, of Biohazard and The Spyderz, Dirrty’s other band) No… not Evan. That’s probably it. We don’t need a drummer. We’d go out as an acoustic thing.
Mike: No, wait, you said my name.
Stephen: You mean, I’m not playing bass?  I didn’t make the all-star band?! I quit!
Dirrty: Hold on! I need a bassist! Geddy Lee!  And I think stylistically, I’d make it country-bluegrass, just to throw it off!

Mike- you’re up!
Mike:
I’ll take Politics for $200.

You’ve got the newest question in there! What is the best rumor you’ve ever heard about yourself?
Mike:
That I’m a good drummer! And…..
Dirrty: You don’t have to go on!
Mike: And, the rumor is not true! I don’t hate puppies! And I do know how to get blood out of a clown suit!  Think about that one for a minute….

I’m not even sure how that one came about…. Moving right along! Stephen… What’s the best and/or worst thing about playing in Vegas?
Stephen: The best is usually when the dressing room refrigerator is unlocked and we get free beer. But the worst thing is when you walk into the dressing room and the refrigerator is locked, and you don’t get free beer! But, driving home on Sunday with a hangover is bad too. That’s probably the worst part about it. The best part about it is probably the good free vibe. But how we mitigate the problem is that we leave at midnight on Sunday! But when it’s a fun crowd, with people from all over, that negates the drive. When people leave Vegas, they go back home to all over the world, so you’re hopefully sending people back home remembering the band. Or, at least if they remember me, that’s all I care about!
Michael: We get treated better in Vegas than anywhere else! Like gold here. Everyone is great!

Grant, draw your question, but don’t peek!
Grant: The answer is… YES!

The question is…. What is your best hangover remedy?
Stephen: Wacking….
Michael: Oh, that’s weird!

I can’t even take credit for this question!
Grant: Best hangover remedy is just a good blow job.

Okay guys! Time to make your plugs!
Dirrty:  There’s this really great lube… no noo, today I’m going to promote something different! TheDisparrows.com. Go to it. You can find all our social networks there, YouTube, and everything else you need to see about us. Probably more stuff about us than you ever want to see.
Grant: Flossing twice daily!
