In music, longevity is sometimes the most difficult of achievements, but Goo Goo Dolls seem to make it look easy. It’s hard to believe that they have been bringing us their special brand or rock for over 25 years now, but it’s true!  Founding members John Rzeznik and Robby Takac put the band together in 1986 and current drummer Mike Malinin joined them in 1994 and the rest is history.  With nine studio albums under their belt and their instinctual love for the road the band shows no signs of stopping any time soon so what’s the key to their success?  Fun!  At least according to bassist Robby Takac, “More than anything else in the world I love to play my guitar and I love to look in people’s eyes and feel that magic happen, that’s always fun.  The minute that’s not fun, I’ve got trouble, because that’s what I do for fun.”

With the release of their last album Something for the Rest of Us in 2010, the band took the road to do what they do best, bring live music to the people!  The band invaded the tent at the Bank of America Pavilion in Boston, MA last night for a show that was equal parts rock, roll, and sweat!  They kicked off their set in appropriate fashion with “Last Hot Night in America” and powered through hits like “Slide”, “Home”, “Name” and their latest single “All That You Are” from the Transformers: Dark Of The Moon Soundtrack.

One thing that I noticed was that Goo Goo Doll fans are some of the most loyal fans out there.  There were a traveling group of fans in the front row who were on their way to catching 8 shows in a row and another group of fans who brought their own props in the form of “Black Balloons” for everyone up front.  While the band’s fans are passionate, the band shares that passion for both their fans and a good cause.  The band invited USA Harvest out on the road with them to run food drives at each show for families in need.

Goo Goo Dolls continue their current tour trek through August.  Check their website for the remaining dates and view our gallery of photos from the show below.

Concert Gallery: The B-52s at the Bank of America Pavilion in Boston, MA

When it comes to “party bands” The B-52s may have written the book. Bringing the fun to adoring fans for over thirty years now, it’s safe to say they rock the party. On another rainy night along the Boston Waterfront, the Bank of America Pavilion was lit up in the colors of the rainbow which served as a perfect introduction to the evening ahead.  The crowd – donned in their sky high wigs, boas and heels (and I do mean both men and women) came ready to dance!

While The B-52’s are most well known for their hits like “Rock Lobster” “Love Shack” and “Roam” it was the vibe of the evening that stole the show.  There was a whole lot of positive energy filling up the tent and even though they haven’t released a new album since 2008’s Funplex it’s plain to see why the fans keep coming back!
