Concert Gallery: Grace Potter and the Nocturnals at the BOA Pavilion in Boston, MA

I think we can safely say that Grace Potter and the Nocturnals are no longer Vermont’s best kept secret. The sexy, soulful songstress and her night owl band have had quite a summer. Just since we last saw them in March the band set out on Th Bonnaroo Buzz Tour leading up to their performance at Bonnaroo, played Lollapalooza, and most recently stunning the crowd at their own Grand Point North Festival in Burlington, Vermont with a guest appearance by country superstar Kenny Chesney.

For Potter, her destiny as a rock star seems pretty evident. She bounds on to the stage with enough energy to fuel a small country and immediately the crowd is transfixed on her enthusiasm and love for what she does. She’s moved from clubs to sheds and most recently sold out the Bank of America Pavilion in Boston – a much deserved feat.

There’s a lot more to Grace than meets the eye though. Don’t let the short skirts and sparkly heels fool you, she’s no one trick pony. Her song writing runs the gamut from classic rock tunes channeling her inner Janis Joplin meets Ann Wilson spirt to radio ready pop infused rockers like “Paris”. She refused to get bogged down by one genre and that’s part of her mass appeal – she offers up a little something for everyone on a shiny, sequinned, rocking platter whether she’s playing the piano, hitting the high notes or just banging on a tambourine.

Her set in Boston reached back to the band’s debut release Nothing But The Water in 2005 and included a little bit of everything off of each of their releases since including an encore performance of “Ah Mary” from 2007′s This Is Somewhere.

While her rise to the top has been slow and subtle, there’s nothing subtle about Grace. She’s done things her own way and in doing so has endeared herself to her legions of fans who applaud her genuine nature and deliciously rocking good tunes.

Concert Gallery: O.A.R. at the BOA Pavilion in Boston, MA

O.A.R. (Of a Revolution) brought their jams to the Bank of America Pavilion on an early August summer night. 

The band, hot off the release of their latest album King offered up a diverse set list mixing new songs with the old faithfuls. King’s first single “Heaven” was released on June 7th and a highlight of the set.
