“I’m excited to be working with WhyHunger and Artists Against Hunger & Poverty. I spend most of my days now in Los Angeles and Boston, and it’s easy to see where people need help when you’re living in a city. With WhyHunger I hope to help the fight against hunger in many of the cities that I travel to as an artist, and starting here in Boston makes perfect sense. Boston will always feel like home to me and I hope I can do my part to give back, and get my fans and friends involved to help me.”
But wait, there’s more!
Bleu will also be speaking on a panel On Tuesday April 26th for “Financing creativity – Microfunding and VCs” at Berklee & Midem’s Rethink Music Conference aimed at discussing and finding solutions for the current challenges of music creativity and commerce. His recent success with funding his latest CD through Kickstarter to the tune of $40K, plus his multi-level approach to his career as artist, professional songwriter, and producer gives him a unique take on funding creativity. Soupy from The Wonder Years explains, “Last Friday we woke up in Maryland to read the news about the earthquake that struck Northern Japan and as the hours rolled by, things seem to go from awful to, well, worse than awful. News of tsunamis, floods, fires, radiation leaks and more poured in as we sat feeling helpless in the van. The idea struck to maybe text a few of our friends to see if we could get five or six songs together for a short comp to benefit the victims of this tragedy. I think it really speaks to the sense of community we have in this scene that within the two hour drive to Delaware, over 20 bands agreed to be a part of this. The comp is a collection of primarily rare, hard to find or unreleased recordings. The storefront was donated to us by Limited Pressing and currently, Paypal is allowing you to send money to charities without taking any fees. This means that, aside from the standard fee Paypal may take out when money enters an account, 100% of the money will be going to Americares to help the Japanese.”
Wisconsin born and bred, Locksley are always proud to let people know about their home state. They let that pride show through with the song “Oh, Wisconsin!” a tribute to the state and a rally cry for all Packers fans excited to see Green Bay in the Superbowl, be they young or old, big or small, or prefer their cheese curds fried or squeaky (un-fried for the uncheesucated).
It’s something all Sconnies near and far can get behind, especially when considering donations made on Band Camp will go directly to Wisconsin based charities including the Foundation for Madison, WI Public Schools (www.fmps.org) among others.
“Oh, Wisconsin!” here for free download or your generous donation of any amount that will go to a great cause!

Do it for the kids! The music world has festivals for every walk of life from hipsters to metalheads so…why not the kids? The fine folks at Life is good decided to give it a try and gave Boston a brand new festival to hopefully look forward to for years to come. The two day event kicked off on September 11-12 and raised over $600,00 for the Life is good Kids Foundation while offering up the most eclectic two day gathering of bands, performers and artists alike to deliver positive vibes all around. The good karma runneth over!
Proving that mixing family and fun doesn’t have to be a recipe for bland the festival brought out some of the best from the music world while keeping the kids fully involved with their own tent and kid oriented entertainment. From a musical perspective, the festival brought out the best of the best from all genres – from the headliners – Jason Mraz and Ben Harper, to the local favorite Will Dailey & The Rivals and Grace Potter & The Nocturnals to one of our personal favorites here at TWRY –OK Go, as cliché as it sounds, there really was a little something for everyone.
Taking place on the grounds of Prowse Farm in Canton, MA, it seemed to be a perfect and picturesque locale for the event giving the 30,00 people who attended a chance to check out everything Life is good had to offer. Proving that truly Life is good we’re already looking forward to next year!
TWRY photographer Dave Barnum was onsite to catch the sights and sounds of the festival. Check out his galleries to get your own dose of the warm fuzzy feeling that Life is good induces!

With the 9th anniversary of the tragedy of September 11, 2001 on the horizon, The Upwelling have released their video “Ladder 116” announcing that proceeds will go to the New York Police & Fire Widow & Children’s Benefit Fund.
The song pays homage to the Queens-based Ladder 116, of which the band shared a friendship. The company was held in the Midtown tunnel the day of the tragedy, due to a security warning which inevitably saved their lives. Two members, however, Paul Gill and Thomas Casoria, worked on rotation for their engine company, and were two of the many brave heroes who lost their lives. This song, and its corresponding music video, remembers these two and the many others who were lost, as well as the legacy of the World Trade Center.
The video for “Ladder 116” is a compilation of footage of the construction of the Twin Towers, in addition to video clips of employees of all races and creeds working in the buildings. It captures the iconic center that represented the essence of New York City to the world and that pumped life blood into various worldwide fields, from finance and insurance to commerce and public media.
