Jade Puget of AFI

afi2It’s been three years since we’ve heard anything new from AFI (Davey Havok on vocals, Jade Puget on guitar, Hunter Burgan on bass and Adam Carson on drums) and the masses are hungry.  On September 29th the band debuts their eighth studio album “Crash Love” to the world.  While the album will surely be put under the microscope by AFI enthusiasts who will undoubtedly compare it to the AFI albums of old, one thing is certain, AFI didn’t remake Decemberunderground or Sing the Sorrow.  What they will find is a collection of songs that prove that AFI is not resting on their laurels or writing a knockoff of one of their old albums, they continue to evolve from album to album.  In the “sometimes less is more” vein the band went back to basics in what may be their most guitar oriented album to date which may broaden their appeal to a more mainstream crowd.

Lyrically Davey kept a prevalent theme of hollow Hollywood and the vacuous society it perpetuates but he also ventures into tales of relationships gone good and bad.  With the first single Medicate giving fans their first taste of the album stand out tracks like “Veronica Sawyer Smokes” and “Darling I Want To Destroy You” leave the best yet to come.

As with any band that stands the test of time AFI continue to reinvent themselves and challenge themselves musically. Crash Love will undoubtedly usher in a whole new generation of AFI fans to carry on the torch hand in hand with the AFI fans of old.

Guitarist Jade Puget recently took some time to talk to us about the album, the recording process, and of course Michael Anthony Hall!

Exclusive Preview of “Cold Hands” From AFI’s Forthcoming Album Crash Love

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

AFI’s new album CRASH LOVE drops on September 29th but we’ve got the exclusive preview of one of their new tracks.  The clip comes from the song “COLD HANDS“.

CRASH LOVE is AFI’s eighth studio album and the band will hit the road almost immediately in support of it.

In a recent interview with guitarist Jade Puget we asked him about the song and here’s what he had to say:

“I had originally written another completely different song from this one and we called it Cold Hands.  We ended up not putting it on the record and we wrote this new one.  It was one of those songs that was very natural and we didn’t have to work hard at it all, the parts just came together and they flow.  It’s a dark energetic rock song.”

Tune in next week for our full interview with Jade to find out more about Crash Love and AFI.

AFI Preview New Track from Crash Love‏ (With Behind The Scenes Video)

afiWith CRASH LOVE, the forthcoming album from AFI, due out in just twenty days and “Medicate” climbing the radio charts, the band is giving fans a preview of another track off the new record as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the recording process. For the song “I Am Trying Very Hard To Be Here” AFI enlisted the help of their fans for the track’s gang vocals. Staying true to form AFI went to their fans, the backbone of the band, and asked them to submit short videos about themselves for a chance to win a trip to Los Angeles and to sing on one of the songs from CRASH LOVE. Fans heard the call, and they answered and thus the Begin Transmission series was born. Watch as AFI welcomes six fans into the studio to record “I Am Trying Very Hard To Be Here” from CRASH LOVE, in stores September 29.

AFI has also just launched their newly redesigned website,, with gold artwork reflecting the forthcoming release. Fans can now connect with the band via Twitter from the site as well as get the latest news, photos, video, tour dates and more. For even more from AFI fans can also visit and Pre-order CRASH LOVE now on iTunes and receive AFI’s latest single, “Medicate.”

AFI premiere First Single “Medicate‏” From Forthcoming Album “Crash Love”

afi“Medicate,” the first single from AFI’s forthcoming album, CRASH LOVE, has just premiered on radio and the internet. The song is already making waves on radio stations with simultaneous worldwide premieres and band interviews. LA based KROQ got the honors in the early hours of the morning playing “Medicate” and welcoming front man Davey Havok who later explained one of the song’s many meanings as, “speaking of the mutability of elation that’s based in really powerful, yet fleeting, experiences and those experiences being referred to in a sort of metaphoric way such as medication.” While CRASH LOVE is the first AFI record to feature sociopolitical and observational perspectives, the darkly personal AFI lyrical strain is distinctly present on the standout single which can be heard now on MySpace.

Marking the premiere of “Medicate,” iTunes has launched a special pre-order for CRASH LOVE which will give fans who pre-order the album the chance to recieve “Medicate” right away. The iTunes version of CRASH LOVE will also feature bonus tracks “Breathing Towers To Heaven,” an unreleased demo, and “Too Late For Gods,” an unreleased studio track, both from the CRASH LOVE sessions.

CRASH LOVE hits stores September 29th, and can be pre-ordered now on iTunes. For more information on AFI, including the latest news, tour dates, and more visit, or and stay connected with the band on Twitter @AFI.
