The Devil Wears Prada Announce “Back To The Roots” Tour

April 5, 2010 by
Filed under Daily Music News, Tour Dates & News

Any fan of music loves when a band says:

We want to go back to our roots, play little hole-in-the-wall places where fans can be right there in front of the stage, where we can hand someone a mic and really have the fans be an active part of the show, not behind a barrier ten feet away.”  — TDWP’s Mike Hranica

The Devil Wears Prada are gearing up to play the biggest venues of their career, and probably the smallest.  Twenty-five thousand screaming kids one night, then 250 hot and sweaty fans the next – the band will tour relentlessly this summer, interspersing performances at ten major, outdoor festivals with multiple nights headlining small, intimate clubs.

The “Back to the Roots” club dates will kick off on Monday, June 28 with the first of two nights at The Basement in Columbus, OH, and play 40+ “roots” shows through to the end of August.  Joining TDWP on all “Back to the Roots” dates will be Miss May I and Your Demise.  Tickets go on sale Saturday, April 10 and can be purchased through The Devil Wears Prada’s website or MySpace page.

One of the primary elements of the ‘Back to the Roots Tour’,” Hranica added, “is playing a few Dear Love songs that we have not played in a long time, and probably will not play again or anytime soon.  We have not built the precise set list yet, and I know it will not entirely be composed of older Dear Love songs, but there will definitely be more in there than what we usually do.”

Neil Young will hit the road for his first solo concerts in many years on the Twisted Road tour, which begins on May 18th and continues through June 8th.  Young will play solo in several of the region’s classic theaters, offering a show of his classic songs along with brand new, as yet unrecorded songs for the first time. British folk legend Bert Jansch will open the shows.

In addition, the concert film Neil Young Trunk Show will be released on Blu-Ray and DVD by Reprise Records later this year. The film is the second in director Jonathan Demme’s planned trilogy about the legendary rocker. Demme also directed the 2006 Young documentary Heart of Gold. Following that film’s premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, Rolling Stone called it “an unconscious, raw, in-the-moment concert movie that respects the immediacy of creativity and the creator.”  Theatrical screenings are being held across the country this week.
