Hot on the heels of the release of their seventh studio album titled Codes and Keys, Death Cab For Cutie played to a sold out crowd at the Bank of America Pavilion.  The band was here not too long ago playing a more intimate show at The Paradise and recently announced their extended tour plans to stay on the road throughout October.

Codes and Keys is the follow up to the band’s 2008 release Narrow StairsCodes and Keys offers up much more in the form of keys and a little less guitar than its predecessor and just a tad bit more optimistic.

Death Cab for Cutie Announce Summer Tour

Death Cab for Cutie has announced the details for their summer headline tour (in addition to previously announced club dates). The dates support their upcoming release CODES AND KEYS, due out on May 31st.  Pre-sale tickets to most of the newly announced dates will be available starting on Friday, April 29th at www.dcfcunion.com; all remaining tickets will then go on sale to the general public the following weekend, May 6th-8th .   Frightened Rabbit will be opening the shows.

Death Cab For Cutie To Film/Broadcast Live One Take Video Shoot On April 5th

Listen up Death Cab fans, time to make history with the band! Death Cab is filming and broadcasting the FIRST EVER live, scripted one-take music video shoot. This will happen Tuesday 4/5 at 7pm ET and you can be a part of it.

Presented by Atlantic Records, Bing and RedLaser, viewers are invited to watch the production unfold before their eyes, Tuesday, April 5th at 7pm EST/4pm PST via www.youareatourist.com Fans can quickly add the “You Are A Tourist” video event to their calendars using leading mobile barcode scanning application RedLaser and a QR Code featured on Death Cab for Cutie’s website and official Twitter feed (@dcfc). Fans simply download RedLaser to their smartphone and then scan the QR Code to add the video event to their calendars.

Bing, the decision engine from Microsoft, will offer exclusive behind-the-scenes photos of the band prepping for the video as well as from the live production itself at www.facebook.com/bing beginning on April 5. In addition, a special embed code will be available allowing users to air the video event on their own blog or website.

“You Are A Tourist” is the first single from Death Cab for Cutie’s eagerly awaited new album, CODES AND KEYS. Death Cab for Cutie have announced some summer tour dates. The tour begins May 18th at Toronto’s Phoenix Concert Theatre, followed by further stops in Chicago, Minneapolis, New York City, Washington, DC, Philadelphia, Boston, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, you can check out the full list of dates and locations below. All shows will feature acclaimed band The Lonely Forest.

The bands new album Codes and Keys is due out on May 31st.

The music video for Death Cab for Cutie’s “Meet Me On the Equinox,” from The Twilight Saga: New Moon soundtrack, premiered tonight, October 7th at 8pm (all time zones) on MTV and can now be seen below. The video was shot with director Walter Robot, who also directed the band’s “Grapevine Fires” music video.

dcfcThe New Moon soundtrack has unveiled a snippet of its first single, Death Cab for Cutie’s “Meet Me On the Equinox.” Visit www.newmoonthesoundtrack.com to listen now. The entire song will premiere on MTV.com this Sunday, September 13th during the Video Music Awards.
The soundtrack is now available to pre-order at www.newmoonthesoundtrack.com/preorder. When fans pre-order any version of the soundtrack, they will receive a download of the song beginning Sunday evening, before it’s available anywhere else.
