On June 12th, 2008 Metallica took over the tiny venue known as “The Basement” in Nashville, TN, underneath the record store Grimey’s New & Preloved Music  to an intimate 150 capacity crowd of fans and friends.  Now the band has announced plans to release a live recording of the show on November 26th titled Live At Grimey’s.

Live at Grimey’s has highlights like “Welcome Home (Sanitarium),” a blistering “Master of Puppets,” and “For Whom the Bell Tolls,”  and will be released on standard CD plus as a limited-edition two-disc set on regular-weight 10” vinyl with a gatefold jacket.

In keeping with Metallica’s steadfast support of independent music retailers, Live at Grimey’s will be sold to those who support Record Store Day, an annual event on the third Saturday in April that celebrates the unique culture surrounding over 700 independently owned record stores in the U.S. and hundreds of stores internationally. Metallica officially kicked off Record Store Day at Rasputin Music in Mountain View, CA, on April 19th, 2008. Please visit for a list of all participating retailers.

“Remember that time you liked that boy and all you could think about was what it would be like to kiss him and your friends told you that it wouldn’t work but you knew in your heart of hearts that it would be perfect. That is Since Forever.”

I recently had a chance to talk to the band (Zach Easterwood on lead vocals, Jason Friedman on drums, Brendan Johnson on guitar and vocals, Eric Woodie on bass and Taylor Easterwood on guitar and vocals) about how they met, their innovative ways of getting themselves out there and their new L.O.V.EP due out on October 19th.
