The Gracious Few, the new band formed by members of Candlebox and Live, have offered their new track “Tredecim” as a free online stream.   Take a listen below:

You can also download the track for free here.

Lead singer, Kevin Martin talks about the meaning behind Tredecim, “As I started to focus in on the song I over heard Chad Taylor mention feeling as though he were in the Harvest Moon of his life, the fullness and strength he was feeling with the new material. It made me think of the calendars life that we follow each and every year in regards to how it would celebrate its life through story or song. Beginning with the Harvest Moon and ending with the rebirth of life as in the birth of the Harvest, a years cycle actually being 13 in regards to the birth month not ending at 12 with death. It may seem a little strange to read or comprehend but it made perfect sense to me!! HA. The lyrics represent that full heart, the tired Autumn, the sleep of Winter awakening with Spring and the birth of life. Ending with the statement ‘my life has made me flatland” as in unending, no obstacles just plains running as far as the eyes can see, our “calendar.’”

The band’s debut album is set to be released on September 14th.

Members of LIVE (Chad Taylor, Chad Gracey, Patrick Dahlheimer) and Candlebox (Kevin Martin and Sean Hennesy) have formed a new band called  The Gracious Few.

Here’s what they have to say about it:
“A band is more than the combined efforts of its musicians. It takes on a life of its own.  In forming The Gracious Few, we combined our creative focus on classic, driving rock n’ roll with our mutual respect and appreciation for each other’s talents.  Our first album is being produced by Jerry Harrison who also produced Mental Jewelry, Throwing Copper and The Distance to Here.  Right now we’re in Miami mixing the album with Tom Lord-Alge.

You can check us out online at www.thegraciousfew.com where you can sign up for the mailing list or check out the new merch on our Official Online Merch Store.  We’ve posted music samples, photos and videos on our Facebook fan page and MySpace sites. Some fans have even found us here in Miami and are posting their photos on Facebook.  Watch for an upcoming announcement about the album launch and summer tour dates.

We can’t wait to get out on the road and share this music with you in person!

Chester Bennington’s Dead By Sunrise announce Fall Release

Chester Bennington , lead singer for the band Linkin Park, has put the finishing touches on OUT OF ASHES, the debut album from his new band Dead By Sunrise. The album is tentatively scheduled for a fall release through Warner Bros. Records.

The band, which is Bennington on vocals, guitarists Ryan Shuck and Amir Derakh (from Orgy/Julien-K), bassist Brandon Belsky, drummer Elias Anda (also from Julien-K), and keyboardist Anthony Valcic, recorded OUT OF ASHES in Los Angeles with producer Howard Benson (Motorhead, My Chemical Romance).

Bennington says that the music he wrote for Dead by Sunrise is darker, sexier, and more personal than anything he’s done before. “It’s got me all over it,” he says. “This is the music I hear in my head.” Indeed the creative freedom that Bennington felt making OUT OF ASHES is evident on songs like “Crawl Back In,” “Let Down,” and “Walking in Circles.” “There are no hip-hop influences at all on this record, which is obviously a big difference,” he says. “Also, the amount of vocal layering and use of harmony really showcase my voice in a new way. I was involved in the entire process of making the record, including the programming and the production, which was not only a great educational experience, it was very empowering. I’m really excited that the album is finally going to see the light of day!”
