Sixx:AM (Nikki Sixx, James Michael and Dj Ashba)  are back with their new album This Is Gonna Hurt, the follow up to their 2007 debut Life Is Beautiful.  The new album, like the first, coincides with the release of the new book written by Nikki Sixx of the same name.

We’ve got an autographed copy of This Is Gonna Hurt to give away to one lucky winner.  To enter:  send an email to staff@theywillrockyou.com with the subject “Sixx:AM”.  Include your name, number, email address and mailing address.  One winner will be selected at random on May 15, 2011.

About the album:
The idea for the album came one day when Michael stopped by Sixx’s Funny Farm photo studio. The pair were looking through some of the bassist’s recent pictures, which depicted people missing limbs, some who were incredibly overweight and prostitutes who all engage with Nikki for photographs included in the book THIS IS GONNA HURT. Michael and Ashba were struck by Sixx’s ability to capture beauty in situations where society judges it as other than. It made them think about their own assumptions and feelings and as they do, the group got together and wrote and recorded songs about the experience.

Michael says, “The way Nikki had set the surroundings, you realize the photo subject has such an incredible story to tell. It was very thoughtful and very beautiful and I believe he was taking a picture of the person inside, even though the outside was not what we’re used to seeing and certainly didn’t fit the average person’s concept of what beautiful is. When I listen to the finished record, it’s these images I see.”

“The idea is to show the truth about how people do judge others and how they turn a blind eye to people that are different,” explains Ashba. “It’s basically a wakeup call. Hopefully people get it and it will sink in.”

Last year, Nikki Sixx and Motley Crue played at Rock On The Range, this year, Nikki will be there in a different capacity. Rock fans across the country will now have access to America’s premiere destination rock festival when Mötley Crüe and Sixx:A.M.’s  Nikki Sixx hosts his  nationally syndicated Premiere Radio Networks show, “Sixx Sense,” from this year’s event.  Mr. Sixx will set up a backstage studio giving listeners an all access look at Rock On The Range with up close and personal artist interviews and reporting throughout the weekend.

“One thing I’ve always loved doing is hanging out and talking music with other artists,” says Nikki Sixx.  “So whether I am playing Rock On The Range with Mötley Crüe like last year, or broadcasting my radio show, Sixx Sense…it’s always a bad-ass time at Rock On The Range.”

“Having Nikki Sixx spread the ROTR gospel all over the country on his brand new national radio show is an honor,” says Gary Spivack, co-executive producer of the event for Right Arm Entertainment. “Nikki is a rock legend and a ROTR alumnus.  We’re excited to have him backstage with us again this year.  You never know what tricks and surprises Nikki and his crew will bring to the ROTR experience!”

The 2010 ROTR line-up is headed up by Rob Zombie, Godsmack, Limp Bizkit and Slash and includes performances from Three Days Grace, Seether, Rise Against, Deftones, Papa Roach, Theory Of A Deadman, Mastodon, Killswitch Engage, Coheed & Cambria, Bullet for My Valentine, Puddle Of Mudd, Five Finger Death Punch, Apocalyptica, Drowning Pool, Halestorm, Sevendust, Skillet, Mushroomhead, Helmet, Airbourne, Anberlin, Cold, Nonpoint, Adelitas Way, Shaman’s Harvest, Year Long Disaster, Like A Storm, Taddy Porter, Janus, Columbus’ own Noise Auction and more.

The VIP, hotel and camping packages have already sold out and the Field GA tickets are currently on pace to sell out soon.  Two-day tickets start at $99.50 and are on sale now via www.rockontherange.com, www.ticketmaster.com, all local Ticketmaster outlets and at the Crew Stadium box office.

It seems Nikki Sixx and Kat Von D have split up.  This according to a MySpace blog posted on Nikki’s MySpace page:

“I want to wish Katherine nothing but the best in her life……She has  loved and inspired the hell outta me and I know I have done the same for her in these almost two years we ruled the earth together….

We are taking a break from our relationship for reason’s that  we will choose  to keep personel. You wont find me saying a bad word about her and I don’t believe visa versa… we have too much wonderful history together to ever deface that….

With love

Nikki “
