Michelle Branch is back!

Her new album West Coast Time is set for a September release and Branch is calling the album a “return to her pop/rock roots”!   The sparkling songstress is currently out on tour with Goo Goo Dolls road testing some of the new material and dazzling the crowd with her collection of songs new and old.

The first single “Loud Music” was released in June and when she started to play the song live the crowd showed their approval via a loud wave of applause!

Taki Sassaris of Eve To Adam

July 27, 2011 by

Eve To Adam are the true epitome of rock – never afraid to risk it all for their craft, they’ve had their share of ups and downs throughout their career but when it comes down to the music, they’ve stayed true to themselves and really, what’s more rock and roll than that?

The band (Brothers Taki Sassaris on vocals and Alex Sassaris on drums, Gaurav Bali on guitar and newcomer Eric Bergmann on bass) is back with new management and a whole new energy surrounding their new album Banquet For a Starving Dog, due out on September 13th of this year.   The songs are honest, gritty, and if you don’t watch out, they’ll step right out and grab your soul. Fans have embraced the first single “Run Your Mouth” with open arms and the band has taken to the streets to test drive their new material on a current tour run with Saving Abel.

I recently caught up with frontman Taki Sassaris to talk about what’s been going on with the band, the making of the new album, and his hopes for the future of Eve To Adam.

Mitch James of Crossfade

June 21, 2011 by

The past few years haven’t been an easy ride for Crossfade.   After releasing two albums on Columbia Records – their hugely successful debut self-titled release in 2006 and the follow up titled Falling Away –  the band was unceremoniously dropped in 2008.   It sent them into a downward spiral for awhile but their saving grace turned out to be their music.  Left a little bitter by the experience the band didn’t really know what the future held for them but their love for music and their friendship brought them together to start writing new music together once again.

Eleven Seven Music soon showed interest in the band and signed them.  The writing process for their debut release on Eleven Seven Music would take the band down exciting new paths resulting in their latest album We All Bleed, released on June 21, 2011.  With the first single “Killing Me Inside” rocking the way for the rest of the new songs, the band wrote a much darker and heavier album than we’ve heard from them in the past, much due to their experiences over the last few years.  The songs are rich in layers and textures and the lyrics are honest and in your face.  Crossfade has a message and We All Bleed delivers it loud and clear.

TWRY recently caught up with bassist Mitch James to catch up on everything the bands been up to, the writing process, and their new album.

Mark Engles of Dredg

On their new album Chuckles And Mr. Squeezy Dredg have raised a few eyebrows – and it’s not just over the quirky name.  Constantly reinventing themselves musically this new album shows off a side of Dredg that we haven’t heard before, primarily due to their collaboration with producer Dan the Automator who brought a whole new approach to the table.

The songs focus largely on lead singer Gavin Hayes deeply personal experiences throughout his life from meeting his biological parents in his 30s to his sister’s deployment as part of our Armed Forces.  The music is less focused on guitar and live drums and more on production, mood and ambiance which is probably the biggest shift from their last album.

The band (Gavin Hayes on vocals, Mark Engles on guitar, Drew Roulette on bass and Dino Campanella on drums) show off their musical constraint and their neverending drive to do something completely different with each album.   Some music fans may be turned off by this but then there are those of us who embrace the change and can’t wait to hear what they come up with next.

We recently caught up with guitarist Mark Engles who told us all about it.

Maria Brink of In This Moment

February 7, 2011 by

Few have been able to harness the delicate balance between aggression and melody quite like In This Moment.  With their third release A Star-Crossed Wasteland the band has truly defined their sound – an emotional assault of the senses mixing the beauty of melodic softness with the grunge and grittiness of metal; no one seems to do it better.

Looking at In This Moment’s leading lady Maria Brink from the outside, few would expect the baby-doll dress adorned, tattooed, blonde haired maven to open up and let out some of her signature growls, but Brink has proved through music that there’s a lot more than meets the eye.

Brink along with founding member and guitarist Chris Howarth, Blake Bunzel on rhythm guitar, Jeff Fabb on drums and Travis Johnson on bass are currently out as part of the Music As A Weapon Tour alongside Korn, Disturbed and Sevendust, ITM’s Maria Brink took some time to fill us in on the tour, their latest album, and  her advice to blooming metal goddesses.
