Saving Abel recently debuted their new video for ‘”Bringing Down the Giant.”

The video has an anti-bullying message behind it and was shot in the band’s hometown of Corinth, MS with the participation of their local community.

The song comes from the band’s upcoming disc of the same name due out on July 17.

Frontman Jared Weeks spoke about the new disc: “I’m so excited and proud to announce that we have signed to eOne. Thanks to them the world will get a chance to hear this amazing collection of songs. We have taken the last year to write and record the best songs of our career.”

Bringing Down The Giant is the bands follow up release to Miss America, released in 2010. The band has been hard at work since then and want fans to know they are back.

The Rocklahoma Files:
Saving Abel

Jared Weeks, Eric Taylor, and Blake Dixon of Saving Abel stopped by the Media Tent at Rocklahoma to give a brief interview. Known for their Southern-bred good manners, I found the band members extremely positive and comfortable just a few hours before their Sunday set.

You’ve got tour dates into September, you’ve got the Miss America single, which just dropped, tell me about the album.
To tell you a little story, man, we were actually in Iraq, we had the album finished, but we did not have a name for it, we were all sitting there wondering. And I’ll never forget it, we were all sitting there in our bus, in Iraq, with our bullet-proof vests on and our helmets, and we were all on the same page for the first time! Everybody. We said, “What are we going to name this album?” And we all said it at the same time.  What better way to say “thank you” to these men and women would be to name it for them—not after them—but for them. And that’s what Miss America is about.

Listen, you’re big in support of our troops, how was the 18 Days video shoot on the USS Hornet arranged? Was that something where you approached someone? What happened?
I think the label is what got us…we knew this was our connection to the military and we wanted to make it known, so somebody brought up the idea, that ship is now a museum, so what we did is we rented it out for the day, and they brought fighter planes in and they brought, dude! It was massive. That’s the same ship that picked up Neil Armstrong. They went and picked him up after he had landed on the moon. Reagan was on it and I got to stand on the same spot where Reagan was! To be part of something like that…it’s just amazing.

savingabelmainHailing from a small town in Mississippi, the members of Saving Abel (Jason Null on guitar, Jared Weeks on vocals, Blake Dixon on drums, Scott Bartlett on guitar, and Eric Taylor on bass) remember a time not so long ago when they were working their day jobs and driving back and forth to Memphis to lay down an EP they hoped might get heard by someone.  They never expected it to get heard by Jason Flom who would subsequently offer them a record deal transforming their lives and giving them the chance they had once only dreamed about.

Their self-titled debut album is burning up rock radio with the sexually charged rock n roll anthem Addicted, their first single.  The rest of the album is just as strong pleasing rock fans with a message that is loud and clear – it’s not science, it’s just good ole rock n’ roll.  The video for Addicted debuted on where else but  Currently out on the road in support of their major label debut, the band is putting it all out there night after night hoping that fans walk away singing their songs, wearing their t-shirts and buying their cd.
