George Lynch

When George Lynch started digging into the writing process for his latest solo album Kill All Control, the intent was to write a new Souls of We album however, what would follow is a solo album with contributions from four different lead vocalists and a bevy of guest appearances. On vocals the album offers up tracks with London LeGrand (Souls of We), Will Marten (Earshot), Marc Torien ( Bulletboys), and Keith St. John ( Montrose) – why pick one lead singer when you can showcase four of the best!
Kill All Control also features “Son of Scary”, a song that follows up one of Lynch’s most beloved instrumental tracks written during his time in Dokken, “Mr. Scary”. “Son of Scary” also has a guest appearance on it, Cinderella drummer Fred Coury offers up his skin-bashing for the recording.
With a new solo album, a new Lynch Mob album in the works and a Lynch Mob tour on tap, you’d think that George would be short on free time, but somehow he’s managed to launch his own custom guitar company called ” Mr. Scary Guitars” selling custom, hand carved, guitars he creates – each one like a piece of art.
We recently had the opportunity to catch up with George to talk about the new solo album, Lynch Mob, his career and his new guitar company.

George Lynch To Release “Kill All Control” On June 21st
May 10, 2011 by TWRY Staff
The shredder George Lynch is back! He’s announced plans to release his eleventh solo album in nearly twenty years. Kill All Control is set for release on June 21st through Rocket Science, Inc. Fans can check out the track “Wicked Witch” here.
What began as a follow-up to the Souls of We debut, Let The Truth Be Known, George quickly realized the project was taking on a new direction with the addition of Powerman 5000 drummer, Adrian Ost. While writing with Souls of We singer, London LeGrand (Brides of Destruction), George noted, “The creative juices flowed and we wrote most of the CD in 10 days.”
Kill All Control combines many of Lynch’s varied styles and histories, including a reflection back to earlier days which spawned a follow up to the instrumental Dokken track, “Mr.Scary”, called “Son Of Scary” featuring Fred Coury of Cinderella on Drums. Additional guests on the album include a variety of known singers. Will Marten (Earshot), Marc Torien ( Bullet Boys), and Keith St. John ( Montrose) all joined in on the new album in which George hopes he was able “to create an eclectic listening experience for my fans.”
In 2009, George re-formed Lynch Mob and released Smoke and Mirrors, which resulted in an extended tour and the reuniting of the original Lynch Mob Line-up, to the delight of many fans. Lynch Mob are currently also working on a new album, due out later this year.
The track listing for Kill All Control is:
1. Kill All Control 7. Voices In My Head
2. Brank New Day 8. Resurrect
3. Done 9. Here Comes The Sun
4. Flys on the Wall 10. My Enemy
5. Wicked Witch 11. Son of Scary
6. Man on Fire

Sully Erna

On September 14th Godsmack frontman Sully Erna debuts his new solo album Avalon. The album – years in the making – is Erna’s personal masterpiece. The songs, written throughout the years, were brought to life by Erna’s collaboration with an eclectic vagabond group of exceptional musicians that span from percussionist Niall Gregory (Dead Can Dance) to vocalist Lisa Guyer who fans may remember from her work on past Godsmack albums.
The collection of songs, best described as tribal and hypnotic have several layers and each time you listen to them you hear something new from strings to piano to hand drumming. Not exactly what one would expect from the tattooed frontman but Erna encourages fans to listen to Avalon with an open mind. The album, rich in melodies and composition offers up a diverse range of sounds and evokes an array of emotions but overall it’s a true musical journey for the senses.
We recently had a chance to chat with local boy Sully about the making of the album, how it all came together, and what he hopes fans will take away from it.
