Staind Frontman Aaron Lewis Announces August 14th Benefit Show in Northampton, MA

June 14, 2010 by
Filed under Daily Music News, Rock the Cause

Staind frontman Aaron Lewis has unveiled details of a major benefit concert presented by his own It Takes A Community Foundation. “Aaron Lewis & Friends” is scheduled for Saturday, August 14th at The Pines Theater at Look Park  in Northampton, Massachusetts.  Lewis will be joined at the show by a number of very special friends for acoustic performances, including Brad Arnold and Chris Henderson of 3 Doors Down, Brendan Kelly, and Lo Pro.

Pre-sale tickets for the concert will go on sale beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, June 15, as well an exclusive VIP ticket package available to Dysfunctional Fan Club (www.dysfunctionalstaind.com).  All remaining tickets will then be made available to the general public on Friday, June 18.  Tickets will be available on that day at www.ticketmaster.com or charge by phone at (800) 745-3000.  Locally, tickets will be available at Faces, 175 Main Street in Northampton.

The It Takes A Community Foundation was founded by Lewis and his wife Vanessa with a focus on reviving rural communities throughout the greater New England area.  The charity works with local leaders and community organizations that have firsthand knowledge of the needs of their communities.  It strives to raise funds and support these community groups who strengthen, engage and enrich the communities they are in, sustain diminishing public services and provide assistance to communities in crisis.  For more information, visit www.facebook.com/ittakesacommunity.

For its initial launch, ITAC’s goal is to raise funds in support of the Community Education Center in Worthington, Massachusetts.  Funds raised will help open the school’s doors and provide a seamless transition from a district run facility to a community school.

“My family has been directly affected by school closures in our rural area due to state budget cuts,” said Lewis.  “We have seen firsthand the necessity for smaller communities to have a voice and to determine their own local needs and priorities.  Our foundation strives to do just that—to build a collective of local community members and empower them to take charge of their own community’s future.”

STIMULATE THIS! Tour with Staind, Shinedown, Chevelle and Halestorm

Staind, Shinedown, Chevelle and Halestorm will be teaming up this summer for the “Stimulate This!” tour, a four-band bill designed to offer fans maximum value at a minimal price.

Making its way across the U.S. beginning July 1 and extending through early September, the “Stimulate This!” tour will hit more than 40 U.S. markets, including some of the hardest hit by the recession.  In a show of solidarity for their fans, the four bands have worked closely with the concert promoters to create a package of exceptional value for ticket buyers.  Through their collective efforts, they’ve been able to maintain modest base ticket prices that remain mostly under $40 each – half the cost of comparable multi-band summer tour packages – with some venues offering lawn seats for less than $10.  Additionally, each tour stop will include special promotions for ticket holders that will vary from market to market, but could include discounts on concessions at the venue during the show, store discounts at local retailers, and online rebates for band merchandise to name a few.

Inspired by the bands’ efforts to craft a cost-efficient tour for their fans during these hard times, Atlantic Records will give away a pair of tickets to five fans in every market who pose the best reason as to why they need a free night of rock.  Fans can send their stories and enter the contest through Atlantic Records’ website, http://www.atlanticrecords.com.  More details will be available soon on the website.

“Wall Street got its bailout; now it’s time for rock fans to get theirs,” said Staind frontman Aaron Lewis.  “This summer, we want to give our fans one night where they can forget about everything else and experience a great rock show.”

“We’ve always said that we, as a band, only answer to one boss…and that’s everyone in the audience,” offers Shinedown’s Brent Smith.  “It’s our job…our privilege to offer our fans an escape.  Teaming up with these other great bands, we’re doing what we can to help lift everyone’s spirits in these tough times…the power of music can do that.”
